Western Australia- Esperance and Albany by Mavic Pro A few mavic pro drone and camera shots of the scenery around Hyden, Esperance, and Albany NZ- Mavic Pro Drone from Greymouth to Christchurch I took this drone footage over one day while travelling from Greymouth to Christchurch via Arthur’s Pass, New Zealand NZ- Sphagnum Moss Helicopter Lift This video was taken back in the 1990’s when I was processing sphagnum moss for a living. Often the moss bags were spread out over a kilometre or more, so it was common to ride the helicopter sling between bags, and then hook them up to the chain below the chopper. Pilot Dave McIlroy in ZK-HOK and HJM, ground crew Andy Leighton, Chris Leighton, Paul Woollaston and Clive Fairhall’s old Truck! Marsden, near Greymouth, Westland, New Zealand. This footage was taken in the earlier days when I would use a short rope strop attached to the helicopter chain hook to put my foot into while riding between bales. Later as I became more comfortable under the helicopter I would not use any rope and just twist my leg around the chain above the hook to save time, sometimes these chain rides could be up to 1km or so and a couple of hundred feet in the air. NZ- Quick Deer Hunt by Helicopter in the early 1990’s I took this shakey video footage back in the early 1990’s with a Sony video 8 camcorder. The pilot is Dave McIlroy flying his Robinson Helicopter ZK-HOK. The footage of the deer at 1.02 is taken in the Cockeye Creek Valley, Marsden, near Greymouth, West Coast of the South Island, New Zealand. Photography Andy Leighton If only I could have had my current Sony action camera FDR-X3000 back in those days, it fits in my pocket, shoots in 4k with image stabilization, and I can attach it to just about anything.
