Marsden Local Interest The old New River Hut used to be an on the spot shelter for young hunters to spend the night, Marsden, Westland, New Zealand Long gone the old Eight Mile Tram Viaduct was a convienent way to get across the Eight Mile Creek for access to hunting areas. Crossing to the hunting country on the other side of the viaduct was a ‘trust your life to luck’ balancing act, as there was a good 1 foot of bounce at the bridge centre from rotting support timbers.
