Chinese New Year Fireworks 2012

This bronze statue features Peter Pan standing on a tree stump playing a flute whilst a collection of fairies, rabbits, squirrels and other little creatures adorn the base, in the background fireworks from the Chinese New Year celebrations are lighting up the night sky. Gloucester Park, Perth, Australia
Apparently the Sculptor Sir George Frampton described his Peter Pan Statue as follows; “The animals and fairies on the statue are listening to the Pipes of Peter Pan, one of the mice is completing his toilet before going up to listen to the music, (also to watch the fireworks I’m sure) and the squirrel is discussing political matters with two of the fairies.” Gloucester Park, Perth, Australia
Sir George Frampton was commissioned in 1912 by author James M. Barrie to create a statue based on J.M. Barrie’s famous character, Peter Pan. Here Peter Pan watches the 2012 Chinese New Year fireworks over the Swan River, Perth, Australia
